Hi, We are are on our countdown for our move to Mornington before the end of this school term/end of year. We are hoping to start our children in primary school before the end of term so that it is not totally new to them, at the start of next year. We are looking at either Bentons or Osborne primary schools. We are now starting to look at rentals in the Mornington area, and will go there again this Saturday to view a few places that are open for viewing. We have spent nearly every weekend heading to the Mornington area to get a feel for it and are very excited about the move. While we know the area around the main street and the beach we probably dont know enough about what areas are good for renting in, what the schools are like, what areas to avoid for families. If anyone has any inside information on areas to rent/good schools or any information at all on Mornington we would be delighted to hear from you. Our oldest daughter will be in Grade 6 next year so we have to look at High Schools too.

Any information, no matter how small would be great,

Thanks,

Mariejo

Obviously the beach side of the Nepean Highway is the most popular but the properties tend to be older and more expensive. A lot of town houses and villa units around. The other side of the highway has a lot of new homes and there are some very nice estates near Bentons Square Shopping Centre. Tanti is usually one that people give a miss as it used to be largely a public housing estate although most houses would now be privately owned and there would be other houses there too. Bentons Road divides Mount Martha from Mornington. My friend lives on the large blocks off Century Drive and there are nice homes on smaller allotments close to where she lives which are lovely. Mornington High School is near Bunnings, Padua the catholic high school is also near Bunnings and there is a nice estate up behind the high school on the beach side. Transport is a problem with older children in any area really and mum and dad's taxi usually does the tooing and froing.

As you already know its a large area so you can be near to the shops and and far away. Also need to check what the internet will be like whether its cable or wireless. Wireless tends to get slow the further away you are from an antenna. My brother told me that as he works for a large telco.

Our daughter goes to Bentons and we have found it great, I have only heard good things about Osborne as well.

We live near Bentons junior school and love it, we can walk to the shops and to several good parks for the kids as well.

Wouldn't live anywhere else now.

Mt Eliza, Mt Martha and Mornington are great places for families by the beach. Bentons is a good school however the main Mornington Primary School has recently been expanded and developed.
